Get off my coattails

Pictures are worth a thousand words. I found this page on Facebook today. It is an insult to have a stenographic machine on a page that is advertising electronic recording. This only proves that they know that stenographic reporting is superior to their recording because they are trying to ride on our coattails. Thanks for the acknowledgement, but please put a picture of a microphone instead of a stenographic court reporting machine.

Setting the record straight!

All the untruths that swirl around the digital marketplace was the impetus for this blog. I see many, many disingenuous subliminal messaging in the advertising of digital court reporting, which has me aching to set the record straight. There are lots of different angles that are played in this field. There are those that choose a profession that can earn a handsome salary and those that choose a money-making profession. If you don't know the difference, then I suggest you stop reading this blog now. My goal is to address all the inaccuracies that I have found to be offensive to other verbatim methods of court reporting. This is all about businesses making a ton of money off of young adults who do not understand the ethical responsibilities with which they are charged.

The feelings expressed towards digital in this blog stems from experiencing firsthand what digital has to offer. Digital has lots of holes in it that are being covered up with weak explanations that are sticking for now. I am a stenographic reporter who has seen this up close and personal. If it were a credible way to create a verbatim transcript, I would be more than happy to pick up a microphone and a laptop and send my audio off to China or India and save myself a lot of sweat, but that is not guarding the record.
